EQ is more important then IQ in chess

You're born w/ it CO. You can't really get it horizontally (learn it). And your parents didn't give it to you.

Ask yourself. What's at the very base of so many of the great letter descramblers (history's poets, writers, philosophers, etc.) ? Implicit anger. Anger that when talent is mystically handed out, very few people actually have any.

It makes for great subject matter, doesn't it ? The hilarious part is that the whole time the high EQ'ers have you tricked into dreaming that you're reading a poem about redemption or sacrifice or love or something like that.

High EQ is a mystical gift...It's vertical (but not genetic)

What do you mean by vertical? And surely you can't be serious that it's not genetic. That's a ridiculous thing to say.

she talked in spritual way,i think she refers it to God,it goes into religion,i agree with her, what a good idea

I questioned your statement regarding it not being genetic Undecided

You question it 'cuz you're trying to answer it using your IQ instead of your EQ. IOW's, the only way you've been trained how....you know, the only way you trust.

I'm pretty safe to say that you have marginal EQ, at best. But that's okay....join the crowd.

ChessOath

Of course I'm using my IQ, not my EQ, to determine whether or not EQ is "genetic". Implying that I'm wrong to do that is very silly. I Don't know the kind of people that you normally discuss things with but I'm not going to get lost in the mess created by your silly sentences.

TRextastic

Why is it that every time I click on a stupid post, you're the author? Stop trolling and go play chess.

rsvan

why some people like to say stupid or troll to the others just because they don't agree or they don't like,,it clearly shows me how poor the quality of EQ they are

The implicit anger (from our great letter masseuses) comes from how unfair life seems to be. But then look around you. There's lotsa happy waitresses & bus drivers & nurses.

EQ and IQ are both arbitrary constructs with little actual purpose or value, and certainly no meaningful value as measurements.

If what you are saying is that your premise is that emotional intuition has more value in chess than analytical thinking, then say that.

(#73) EQ and IQ are both arbitrary constructs with little actual purpose or value

You have no idea whatcher talking about. Let me ask you....why do you think corporations hire ppl every day using them ?

The exact opposite is the truth. Ask Bobby Fischer's zombie.

perhaps the same reason law schools use the LSAT score to admit students even though it has no correlation to a student's success in school.

Elubas

I would think doing well at IQ or EQ both depend on controlling your mind anyway.

you said it precisely, your word describes your IQ and EQ well, cause there was a positive thinking and a good conclusion at the same time, welldone friend!

Name some corporations that hire based on IQ and/or EQ test scores.  Then point me to their online applications that ask for scores to be entered in order to land an interview.

Have you ever actually worked in a corporate environment or dealt with an HR department?  Based on past posting history, I'm guessing no.  You definitely have the ring of somebody living on someone else's dime.

You rarely, if ever, have a clue about the things you bring up...but that never seems to stop you from claiming you are an authority.  You trade on your theoretical gender, and have little to actually say.  If you weren't doing so (say, by changing your username to JoeSchmoe and going to a generic and not-vaguely-suggestive avatar), you would quickly see how little influence you are actually wielding in return for all the time you are spending here.

If, say, Batgirl were to disappear and come back under a fake account and post the same kind of threads she normally does, she would garner the same kind of respect over time, perhaps without quite the notoriety ;).  If you did it, however, you would fade right into the miasma of dreck the forums are wallowing in, and would be forced to retrieve your metaphorical crutch to survive.

I want to point out EQ and IQ both have a Q in it. Guess what that stands for? Quotient. This means it is a measurement. This means you can't 'use' your IQ or EQ.

I also wanted to point out that btickler is right about it not mattering much. The thing is for a measurement to be valuable you need to know how inaccurate it is. How much points could it be off at maximum? If you don't know this the measurement has no value at all. For this reason I never took an IQ test. Seems like it's only useful if you want to gloat about it. Otherwise it's a complete waste of time.

There now. Doesn't that make you feel better ?
