Extra seconds

Hi! Does anyone can explain me why in some games my opponents gain extra seconds after their moves in the end of their time? They gain about 2 seconds more or less after their every move. But this happens only when their time for the game getting to end.

Hmm... lot of words... But is it an error or not? I lost many games because my opponent has gain additional seconds but my clock worked ok.

I give an example: My opponent moved and I see that he has let's say 5 seconds left. I have let's say 15. Then I'm thinking a little and after 5 second I'm making a move so I have 10 seconds yet. Now my opponent quickly answers and after that his clock shows 7 seconds!!! :( I continue moving and after my move I have only let's say 5 second. My opponent again do quick move and his clock shows 8 seconds... And then of course after some moves I'm losing by not enough time. This is really frustrating :(

You must be playing with increment... What type of time control do you play?

kennedyryderparis

Internet lag could also be a factor behind this...

kennedyryderparis

You seem to play a lot of blitz and bullet, so lag is probs the reason...

No, I choose standard live game 3 minute. Without increment. And as I said this is happen not very often, by it happen. More or less in one game of 10. And only when my opponent clock is getting to the end. I mean when he/she has about last 8 or 10 seconds. Strange:(

I just wonder either anyone else has noticed such a situation or I'm the only one with such a problem
