And football is much too dangerous any more. It should be left to bunnies.
fabiano should retire

He should retire(sarcasm), he’s only going to make 40-60 grand for this weeks work. He is such a clown.

Unfortunately they won't let us anymore
Also Carlsen should retire

The second-best chess player in the world should certainly take chess advice from a third-rate patzer on Chess.com
People who would lose to him 100-0 in any time control under the sun, probably if he's blindfold too, don't get to say he "sucks"
He's a bit worse compared to the field than he is in classical. And really Magnus (and Hikaru) are just special at those rapid speeds. Fabiano is not the only top player like that. And the idea that the chess world is going to pass him by and become all blitz and rapid is silly. The most that could happen is that classical controls become a little faster.
... Sure you do ... John Gochnaur is frequently referred to as the worst baseball player ever... Batted lifetime .187 and had 98 errors in a single season. He did suck. Would I do any better? No... But that isn't the bar of comparison. He is a professional, and needs to be judged against his peers, not against his fans.
The fact that you guys don't realize this is satire is hilarious.
The fact that given the quality of posts these days we have no way of knowing if it is indeed satire is even more hilarious. Or sad.

And Ivanchuk missed a mate in 1 and lost on time to Anand before. It happens. Perhaps 2 computers playing chess would be better for you?

Comparing a baseball player with a .187 lifetime average to the second highest rated chess player in the world seems pretty stupid
Please reread- I was not comparing the two. I was illustrating the point that professional athletes should be compared to their peers, not to their spectators. Fans absolutely have a right to judge higher rated players against the skills of their peers, rather than their own skills. I made no judgment or statement about Caruana at all.

No one's denying they have a "right" to say someone who's probably accomplished more than they ever will sucks. Doesn't make it any less silly.

Everything clear to you?

No. In fact, I'm much more confused. Dpnorman said, essentially, that you do not have a right to criticize someone who is better than you- you can't say he sucks. I disagreed, you can criticize, because the comparison can be done to his peers, not his spectators- using the infamous, hard to dispute, worst player in professional baseball history as an example.
Your point was what? Dpnorman's post was misinterpreted? Or it is silly to pass judgement at all?

This (your first post) was what you were defending with post 35. So I was essentially responding to your first post along with your defence of that specific post. Not the part that's relevant to dpNorman's post.
I don't believe it's silly to pass judgement. X played badly here for example.

Then I disagree with your original first line, as I quoted dpnorman who does believe commoners shall not insult the crown...
I do agree with you that it is silly to be fans or anti-fans of other chess players, sports teams, Olympic athletes- any tribalism really. But I think that is part of the appeal of sports.
