i'm 18 years old and i started chess before 2 months and my rating is 1125 but in chess.com my rating is just around 800 , anyway i was playing checkers before chess , and i always i have the same problem is fear from losing , i know it's just a game , a complicated game , but this fear come to me when i always play , i've never played a real chess (i don't have a chessboard and there is no clubs close to me that they teach chess) , if i fear behind this screen how it will be if i play real game ? i think my heart will stop , anyway  (please excuse my english)

You won't ever learn anything until you lose.  Lost games are to be studied; they are your best path forward.  Everyone loses games.  Try to think differently.. instead of "losing" think of it as "being trained by a better player".

Playing on a board is different than online.  You have to physically hit a clock.  The pieces look very different in real 3-d.  You can see your opponent and facial expressions, gestures, etc.  There are distractions, noise, people walking around.   If you want to play that way, get used to it early so these things become natural to you.

Yes, try to play OTB as soon and as much as possible, you'll gain enough experience to overcome that fear very quickly.

Well that fear is what makes chess exciting!

I always  imagine my virtual opponents to be laughing at my performance whenever I make a mistake or blunder or also when they make a move appearing TOO strong to me. In this case, I...

never ever worry or fear about losing the game... But something maybe even worse happens to me !!

I start losing my temper more than becoming afraid !!

So I always play ONLINE chess so as to not to be able to punch!! stronger opponents in their faces filled with silly smiles : I can never help thinking this way !! Although I know I'm wrong happy.png

Losing is part of the learning process.  You have a choice:  You either jump in and learn how to swim, drown, or stay on the beach where its safe.

Stay on the beach with my 1911 blitz rating is good.

JOKING.

I also used to fear losing, specially rating points, then I decided it is retarded to do so, how exactly do numbers affect my life?
Everytime you lose just see it as if your opponent gifted you knowledge.

That was one of those nice comments the Mexican made time to time, but it's obvious he was pushing his luck too much today.

I don't think he deserved to be banned though, despite his bad habit of speaking Spanish.

I can still see his profile so it's only a mute (not the first one, by the way)

Understand, that you are not your rating.  That is just a number.  Play the game, have fun, learn, and the improvement will come.  Good Luck!

If you have no intention of getting better, then yes, you should probably fear losing.

If you go into the game acknowledging that you'll be a better player 6 months from now than you are today, then losing isn't so bad. In fact you can get excited because learning from your losses is what will make the future you better.

Losing is part of the learning process. Even the best of them of also loses. Make your defeat as a motivation for you to improve your game. To improve you need to solve tactics problems, study endgames and strategies.
