Your rating in chess.com doesn't count, becasue you only played 10 games and still didn't stabilized.

Hey, I would like to join a real-life tournament and I need to choose between 1500 or 1200 fide rating. I was wondering if 1200 fide would be too low for me if I play about 1500 rapid on chess.com.

Thanks!

My fide is 1250 but my chess.com blitz rating oscillate from 1900-2100 range(if good day) and i don't play much or regularly too. I think the lower rated players are underrated. They perform much better than their rating. And those 2200 rated 10 year old are scary.

Am I the only one not to get the term "online" vs "live chess"

Online is online, Live chess is tournament or over the board

Basically online is virtual, live chess is real life not on the computer

I am 1250 fide (i got rating on my first fide tournament when i was 9 or 10) but i am 2000 blitz chess.com but since in India there is high competition in lower categories so that might be reason for inflation because i heard after 2200 level fide playes of similar rating have similar strength and not dependent on region anymore. (I indirectly wanted to say if i played fide in another country i might had a higher rating which won’t be true after i reach 2200+ just saying lol)

There are reports that since the Pandemic, players in places such as India are vastly underrated n FIDE. This is especially true for young players. That is, 2000 rated young players in India have been known to upset +2400 rated opposition far more often than is statistically predictable.

In general though, an established blitz rating on chess.com is still a fairly good predictor of FIDE ratings.

real fide rating = blitz rating - 900

Now you've upped it to 900?

Wasn't it 800 just a day or so ago?

This time next year you'll be saying, "FIDE = Chess.com blitz rating - 1200!" tongue.png

You have forgotten an essential factor: blue line waters or proffessional chess. At the 2200 rating begins the trouble. All becomes hard and cold and you have to come back or to go further alone!! To gather precise statistics info you need to exclude players under 2400. They play just for fun and are not consistent in their moves!! One other thing is the hard puzzles that fide site has. My rating at chess.com puzzles is 3000 but at fide is only 2300

Thank you for that much effort. I really enjoyed the article.

this is pure fantasy. the data is self-selected; from what people on chess.com claim is their FIDE rating. this makes every further conclusion unreliable at best and complete fabrication at most likely. additionally, there's proof by just look at it. chess.com rating is obviously not lower than FIDE rating. come on
