Just got done watching Huo vs Levon in the World Cup.

They were both 22 moves in with less than a minute on the clock. .30 second increments. They managed to get to move 40, but instead of having 30 minutes for the rest of the match, they had to finish the game as is?

I thought it was suppose to be 90 minutes for the first 40 moves, and an additional 30 minutes for the rest of the match. What the effff

At the risk of sounding stupid, you're not confusing move 20 with move 40, are you? I actually don't understand your "finish the game as is" comment at all. How do you finish a game as it is?

No, they were 40 moves in & played the next 10-13 moves with seconds left on the clock (as is) instead of getting an additional 30 minutes

You were watching the tiebreaks.  The tiebreaks are shorter rapid games, not full length classical games
