I got nothing, but just in case you haven't done a "search forums", there have been a boatload of previous posts (and probably more with different search terms):

I've been in 2 tournements, and all I can say is... get used to writing down moves, and take your time. Don't stress out, and play chess.
Yeah. Take your time is a big one. Don't feel you have to play fast because your opponent does. If it annoys him, GOOD--you are in his head. It probably doesn't annoy him and you probably aren't in his head, but if you think of it that way it will help you not feel bad for using all your time.
Be prepared that you will be nervous and won't play your best. Just get through it. Then you will know what it's like and will be more comfortable next time. I tried to prepare for months the first time I played in a rated tournament. I would have been better off just playin sooner and getting the nervousness out of the way.
If you are not used to playing with a clock, try and get a chance to play with one. Also remember to write down your moves. There will also be times of intense boredom, when you've looked at the board thoughts of what you are going to do for every decent move and are still waiting for your opponent to move. Don't succumb to it. Bring bottled water. Know your time limit.
When you get to the board you will already know what you know so there is no use worrying about if you didn't study enough opening lines, or if you come across a weird move, etc.. Now you will find out if your knowledge is enough. If it isn't, use your imagination to reconfigure and look at things from different angles. You just may surprise yourself - and your opponent as well.

what about chess dot com tourney? I entered my first and won my first 3 games quickly. Unfortunately I have 40+ other games going on Plus life. I'm running out of steam, any advice on how to continue to play well? I have considered bring out a board. Make notes of candidate moves on paper. Any suggestions would be great I I am enjoying this play but if I get overwhelmed I will not!
Hello everyone,
I am participating in my first Chess tournament on Sunday April 5. Would anyone have any advice for me on what to expect, how I should play, and what to possibly study up on?
