What are some ways to lower inaccuracies when playing chess? Is there a training a method besides tactics to help you evaluate moves to be better? I'm thinking that if I can come up with an improvement plan that lowers my inaccuracies, my overall game should be better correct and I should improve?
Believe me im not that good, but iv been improving, one simple reason- concentrate on the game. You arent ever going to be perfect, not even Carlsen is, though he is pretty damn near. Now of course, you only get at higher levels by concentrating on the game, but really, just try it, cross check every move, double check everyone move, and dont only analyse you pieces and moves, check your opponents moves too
You should move away from tactics and focus on piece play, pawn structures, and long-term plans and improvement of your position. You should understand key ideas for both colors in various openings in order to reach a better middlegame. Pawn structures dictate piece play and plans. I recommend books such as the Middlegame Pattern Recognition Motifs book.
@tannguyen1991 i see that you are a tactical player from your games, just like I am. But i assur you your level will skyrocket if you combine tactical play with strategy as I did. Always ask yourself how you can improve your position, even when you are in a better position. Happy studying!
