Yeah they didn't earn Fischer's respect. I guess that he met too many of the bad ones, and then came to a conclusion over the collectives.

People aren't nearly so rational in the stereotypes they hold. If they were, there wouldn't exist such hateful feelings.
I think it more often comes from a general anxiety or fear from something they have no control over... like disease, war, economy, whatever. Then they transfer it to something tangible, like a group of people.
If someone who hated Jews woke up the next day to find all the Jews on earth had died overnight, they'd soon find a new target for these feelings.
A new target like people who play chess just for the fun of it.

If all of the Jews disappeared overnight - that guy would STILL hate Jews.
Jews were successfully eliminated (or almost) from countries in Eastern Europe following the Holocaust and events after it - but you would still get people responding with animosity towards them in polls way after the fact.

not sure if that makes him crazy, but as someone who has the same problem, I sympathize with Fischer. We actually all could end up like him with everyone thinking we're crazy. What prevents us from saying hateful things just to get attention? Ya, he said a lot of stupid things, and I feel people overreact to those stupid things. He obviously can't take himself seriously. What he said in the Kasparov interview sounds exactly like something I might say on these forums because it's haughty and I know it pisses people off. It's like my way of trolling except while I'm doing it I fully believe what I saying is true. An example: yesterday I defended this crazy line in the French that I thought was better than a line that Grandmasters played and until Reb came in and tore my lines up I thought I was right. I don't know why I have strong convictions and a tendency to say things just to get attention. I love attention, I'm sure Fischer loved attention. Maybe that's why he said and did crazy things. Maybe he wasn't loved enough as a child.

1- The King's Gambit is actually busted.
2- I agree with him, they are not creative at all, they lack stamina, they are fish, copycats, look at women right now and their stupid feminist movement, they are copying us, they are copying what US men have done since the beginning of life. Why dont they find another way to abuse men?

I must admit that last quote of Fischer's listed by the OP is one of my favorite quotes of all time... Fischer calling someone else a chess an idiot-savant and Kasparov (had he ever met him?) a piece of garbage!!!
