Online? You can do that OTB.

flagging in OTB does not seem right to say the very least...

so today, i was playing this FM and we had an equal ending but he had like 10 seconds only.I played for the flag and he blundered in time pressure. After the game, he was just so salty in the game chat, saying some rude stuff about me going for the flag. I wont say who he is and i won't say what he said, but i wanna discuss just one thing, is flagging unethical or part of the game? lemme know ur thoughts. thx

What does flagging mean?

Right or wrong, what's the difference with online?

Ok, but well, every chess player here who plays OTB tournaments frequently (including me ) (before covid) would probably playing online for practice.

I think anyone who complains about losing on time is a whiner. You know the rules and you accept them when you hit play. If they don’t give you enough time to think, then choose a longer time control. You’re not going to get flagged if you manage your time, though you may lose because you didn’t have time to calculate well.

To make your opponent run out of time by giving trash sacs and checks (so that he loses time).

What does flagging mean?

flagging is playing faster than ur opponent to ultimately make him run outta time

thats a misinterpetation. u gotta play tricky moves as well, not trash moves every time

I normally don't flag players, I play normally like how I would in real life.

Yes, when someone plays a non increment he should be ready for the same, but I disagree on the point you said on time management as most games have increment and so the pressure can be handled. In non increment games, an error is certain to happen.

Yeah I mean who doesn't want to win, if flagging is needed to win I am certain that some players would do it. Also why does putting your king in check make you run out of time?

FOA, his premoves get cancelled, secondly it takes atleast half an second to realize that you are in check and so after you make a move you lose time.

when u have less time, u premove, when u premove, u dont expect checks to happen, and when u check someone they have got limited moves only

TheReturn16

is 8 shots of whiskey ethical?

The_economist9

Oh yeah, well I learnt something from this thread. I noticed that in my games as well, when your king is in check it cancels out everything.

WHAT? ASK THIS IN OFFTOPIC section xD

rishabh11great

So at the EOD, we realize that we play online for practice, what actually matter is OTB.

The_economist9

Does flagging happen a lot in bullet?
