If you are just starting, do not worry about titles. Just learn, play, and have fun!
for an adult beginning chess, is grandmaster or even any titles in reach in time?

Has anyone become a GM without starting as a child?
If so, it's possible.
How long did it take them?

Noone who had not played before age 25. Post 25 aged beginning players have about a 2000 USCF ceiling.

No. What do you want to do with the title? How about aiming at an academic degree? More useful and much easier to achieve.

Sounds fair. Is there a list of GMs and what age they started at?

How is it useful? Becoming a status in something shouldn't be judged based on age.
It's useful because it reveals the plausibility of whether or not someone could become a GM after a certain age. It may have other uses, but only one is required for it to not be useless.

There's a big difference between no one ever being able to do X, and some people being able to do X.
If we discovered from the list that actually loads of people had become GM after starting chess as an adult that would make the idea far more plausible than if no one had ever done it.
I can't see how I'm wrong on this. Note, I never talked about sample size etc, I think you read that into my post. If you re-read it may become clear that when I referred to 'only one' I was talking of uses. One use of a thing makes it, by definition, not useless.
If they keep lowering the standards in order to be "inclusive" my cat will eventually receive some kind of title.

Statistics please! It seems like you chose an arbitrary age and arbitrary number!
Your mental capabilities and maximum potential will degrade with age so yes, you can get to old to become any kind of master.

There are only 1500 grandmasters on the planet. I don't know the number of masters but it can't be more than 2 or 3000. Do the percentages and you will see that, out of everyone, only a small handful can become a master. They all devoted their life to Chess at an early age.

I think it is theoretically possible for anyone starting at 25 to become a grandmaster. But nobody has ever tried it and probably nobody ever will.
Some wonderkids are hooked up in chess at a very young age, and starting at age 5 they study chess 8-10 hours a day, every day, for 10 years. Has anyone aged 25 tried this? No. Will the OP try this? No.
