Force Draw

I had the unfortunate experience of having to play a good 40 moves King-Rook vs. King-Rook simply because I had 45 seconds and he had 1 minute. He eventually won on time. I understand that the game was short, so it seems hypocritical to complain about time; however, I was wondering if there is a way to force a draw in that situation.

Thank you.

Ah okay, thanks. And that rule applies to chess.com? I should I tried to make it to 50 moves instead of offering a draw every other move, hah.

Thank you. It's a shame that some players will sacrifice sportsmanlike conduct for a couple internet rating points.

Thanks again.

Well that's a matter of opinion, the sportsmanlike conduct. Another person will say time-management is part of the game and a fair win. And the next person will say it ain't over till it's over. I would advice btw to not send every turn a draw-request. Offering a draw is fine, but when it's declined, it's declined.

Unless I'm wrong, there's 3 ways to win chess:  Positional, Material, and Time.  That's what I'd always been told - an abundance of any and/or all, and your opponent could just be compelled to resign or find futile resistance in complete and utter royal evisceration.
