Formatting a chess book with diagrams

I am writing some material/chess books and would like to learn how to insert diagrams from positions and format along with text above and under it, like any serious major chess book.

Have been studying this topic a bit on the internet, but all I have come across are links to "LaTex" and something similar. I have tried downloading this and the plugins that come along with it, but am unable to get it to work.

Does anyone know if there is a simpler way to go about, other than LaTex? Or if there is someone that offers instruction via camera in a call/support to walk through the process?

Hi, have you managed that ? I am about to write a book, I was thinking about use the app Lucas Chess and print the screen.
