Referring to Thatsucks, see your heart is in the right place, that's why you have a gift of being pretty decent at chess, and that's all because of the Ineffable One

So far, we've gotten away with being effable, although that might change at any minute...

In b4 God's will..

There's a r*** joke in there somewhere... that'd really get this party started.

says the atheist 💀💀💀

It's cute how you think "atheist" is a bad word.

You're 12, you can't help but be cute. It's like a puppy or a flower.

But for me? Being cute is an actual accomplishment.

I heard that when good Christian children leave their toes hanging out from under their covers at night, then mean old atheists will come and chop them off!

If he weren't dead, I would say go to the Virginia Penatentory and Claude F Bloodgood could give you a demo on how to manipulate ratings!

Outside of the religious aspect, I would suspect prayer would help.  Simply because it can place a person in a meditative state.  And just clearing your mind seems like a good way to get focus.

Yeah, in the god/no god debate, neither side can prove anything, so it comes down to what you believe, nothing more. Either side's views are equally legitimate.

Well, no, they're not equally legitimate. One has to make many more assumptions than the other... many-many more, but of course this often leads to some long and contentious debate.

Man, this thread's gotta get locked soon, lol

But ok, in the spirit of respectfully stating some kind of bottom line...

Religion is epistemically bankrupt, but nihilism is bankrupt in the practical sense.

Not only is it silly for humans to pretend to be perfectly rational, the very fact that we exist (from an evolutionary biology view) is that if nothing else we're practical. If it's stupid, and it works, then it's not stupid (so to speak).

So in that sense religion is a natural and practical choice.

I don’t think God cares about his ELO.
He plays for the sheer enjoyment !

Yeah, but if I could just find out what HE drinks during HIS games, that might give me an advantage!

Well, I 100% believe in the power of God. I think God can make anything happen, which is exactly why you shouldn't be allowed to pray. If I have God on my side, and you don't, you're going to lose; it's just that simple. Calling upon Him to help you win just shouldn't be allowed under any circumstances. I know that I never would because it's totally a d*ck move.

Hmm, if both players in a chess game are praying to God, and they have different Gods, how would that scenario play out, I wonder?

Well one of them is going to hell, that's for sure.
