French Defense vs Caro Kann????

French Defense leads to a wider range of positions... some very double-edged and others rather stale. Caro-Kann leads to more predictable formations, but is also less aggressive.
I tend to play the King's Indian Attack against both openings. 2. d3 and 3. Nd2.

Both french & Caro Kann are too good. You can use which one is suits for your style of play. I prefer to mix both caro kann and french.

I used French defence to get up to 1600 but after that it's really difficult to use. now I use the Pirc defense and I'm loving it, as I get dynamic equality which leads to really crazy positions.

This has got to be the most inaccurate statement I've seen in a while.
If anything the Caro-Kann leads to a wider range of positions. The French, there's basically two options:
Either White has pawns on d4 and e5 while Black has pawns on d5 and e6 (Advance, Classical, Steintiz, Closed Tarrasch, Winawer, MacCutcheon) or White or Black trades on e4 or d5 and the position is wide open (Open Tarrasch, Exchange, Burn, Rubinstein). There ain't much different between them. Some minor details differentiate lines like the Winawer from the MacCutcheon.
The Caro-Kann, on the other hand, leads to far more diverse positions. A blocked center with a lot of manouvering (Short Variation of the Advance), a wild, tactical, sacrificial battle (Shirov Variation of the Advance), A Carlsbad Pawn Structure reversed (Exchange), a wide open position with an IQP for White (Panov-Botvinnik), a semi-Open game where Black takes a slight positional disadvantage (Classical with both sides castling Queenside), or a more risky attempt at winning (Classical with Black castled Kingside - especially in the Smyslov Variation - White Queenside), and then you have the central ownership with potential over-extension combined with potential brutal attack for White in the Fantasy Variation.
Both have their nuances - the OP needs to try both in tournaments and figure out which one he understands better!

because I believe the French has a lot more followers therefore we can assume you opponents will be more prepared for the French. The caro is kind of like the French except you don't have you bishop behind the pawn chain.
