Fritz help

I am having problems finding the correct mode on Fritz (11) and if anybody could help I'd be grateful. I'm simply wanting to use the interface as an analysis board, but can't seem to stop the computer from replying to my moves.

I've tried fiddling around with it, reading around online, youtube, the forums here etc and can't find anything. Surely you can turn the computer function off? I don't want to play against the computer I just want to use the board.

Thanks.

On Fritz 9, the command for turning off the engine is Shift+Ctrl+M.

To enter analysis mode with the engine running, use Ctrl+Y. Or, go to the menu and click on tools.

Thanks, I got with 'turn off engine' in in the engine tab. I had been trying to go into game mode or analysis or edit and so on.

Yet another Fritz issue I'm having if anybody can help I would be grateful.

I have a few games saved to a database that I want to annotate in stages, so I can annotate and then save and come back to it later or another day.

However, I can't get the variations to save without saving a complete new version of the game! This means if I annotate in five stages I will have five different versions of the game! Is there an easy way to just save over the same game?

OK, I could save a complete version of the game and delete the old one, but this seems like a lot of messing about and it also changes the order of the games by placing the new game to the bottom of the list, when I want my games to be in ordered by date.

Any suggestions very welcome.

My oldie Fritz is several versions behind yours, but mine seems to do what you want if I do a "File replace" instead of a "File save".

Thanks, I've just this very second found that out. Replace button works!Smile I thought I had tried that before but obviously not.
