Thanks a lot!

You should definitely start your own blog. Just because there are better players than you doesnt mean you arent legit enough to write your own. Being a better player doesnt neccesary mean they have the ability to write better than you just did. Reaching 2100 is a great acomplishment especially when you play chess just as a hobby and I think there is a plenty of players like me who could benefit a lot from your posts.

You convinced me! Your kind work did the trick. And also the fact that I clearly enjoy writing about everything, including chess wink.png.

Extremely nice of you to post this....Greatly appreciated.

i have set my settings to -25 to + 200 in all my daily matches! Hired a coach, don't give a whoot about rapid or blitz.

Great post! Such rare, good advice!

funkyjatin

Yes. Made me think afresh. Boosted my confidence and determination.

I had my settings to -25 to +200 and it caused an enormous losing streak.

Granted, it was coupled with my abysmal play. :P

Yaaay, Im happy to see that I made atleast a small impact.

Ha yes you will lose a lot those are my settings too see above ^^

@BroiledRat I suspect it's either psychological or just random noise.

Normally your elo shouldn't change if you play against higher or lower-rated players as you will be "paid" more for each win and lose less for each loss.

What will change, however, is your win/loss ratio. For blitz or example, I have 46.6% win and 49.1 loss (rest in draws). This is the direct consequence of the -25 +200 strategy. But most of those losses and wins were against higher-rated players. I can only recommend you stick to it!

Unless, of course, the loose ratio demotivates you, in which case stick to something stimulating.

Good point that’s why I have been doing -25+200.  I don’t care about win Percentage. Plus if you do tournaments you are going to get lower rated players which can be scary

BroiledRat
Oh, wait, I’m an idiot.

I accidentally set it as -25 to +400
Armand_Spenser

@BroiledRat, that's good, keep it that way! Push it to -25 to ANY.

Whenever you play against a higher-rated you learn a lot, and if he has more than 400 elo than you, you won't lose many points if you lose anyway.

A -25 to ANY will mess up your win loss ratio, but it will help your elo long term.

Nice post. I am a beginner struggling at 900 elo but having fun playing. It is obvious I need to develop a better training plan than the one I have. Thank you for sharing some of your chess experience.
