game abandonment

I am always a victim of game abandonment. I usually play  Standard 15 minutes live chess. I am just wondering why , there are players who can not accept their defeat. Instead of just humbly saying  " RESIGN " they will abandon the game, leaving the poor winning opponent waiting for the time to expire ,  in order to score a win,  for just  6 to 10 points. May be you can give at least 20 points for all who are victims of game abandonment, just to console them for the long waiting, and punish the one who abandon the game , by deducting 20 points so that they will learn how to accept defeat. Thank You and More Power to  Chess.com

There is a Fair Play Policy that is supposed to deal with this behaviour but it appears there is no lessening of complaints in the forums.

Any who have been sanctioned, rightfully or wrongfully, care to confess here?

If you would play someone your own level then you wouldnt have frustrated opponents who would enjoy the game instead of looking at a board full of sophisticated traps and pitfalls

just got robbed of about 25 points through no fault of my own; the site froze when it was my move and I was penalised for it!!

Richard

dantechianti, if the site froze, everyone would have experienced it, it may have been down to lag or a heavy traffic connection on your end, were you downloading or streaming any form of media or program at the time it happened?

It has happened several times to me that my opponent has abandoned the game at the moment of unavoidable defeat. This is very annoying no matter how you look at it, and should be clamped down upon. As for playing equal opponents: I just use the default +/- 200 rating points option.

People should have the decency to admit defeat and resign properly.

Richard

Roy_Rogers,

It is being clamped down on:
