Gata vs Topalov

Anyone following the game? Is Topalov playing at breath taking speed? He's used just a few minutes according to my sources and the game has been on for about an hour.

Nytik

I agree. Kamsky has just completely wrecked his advantage with 10. Qh5 though!

TinLogician

Kamsky is really burning up the clock with his long thinks.  I don't think he's going to make it today.  It's a shame too since he had the White pieces.

I'm following the game as well, Kamsky seems to be taking his time even for simple moves like moving the bishop...where is Gata's prep?

He had a +0.45 advantage chance at one point as well...

ericmittens

Whoa! Bg5! Things are getting sharp!

Nytik

Heres where Kamsky lost his advantage...

Nytik

Topalov's advantage is climbing by the move, as Kamsky slips down a slippery slope...

In a perhaps related topic, Ciudad De Linares is just about to begin! The tournament with 8 of the 10 top players- of course, two of them are the subject of our current attention.

From the Live Coverage:

"Currently the broadcast rights are being violated by ChessBase  on its software PlayChess."

Are they pointing fingers or advertizing Chessbase? I don't get it!

Nytik

Where are you finding this live coverage, Farbror? And shame on Chessbase! Smile

Totally off topic but what is your favourite Monty Pyton insult?

"I fart in your general direction"

....makes me giggle and would serve as a fine example of my caveman sense of humor.

Nytik

Cheers.

Kamsky really doesnt have the time to mess around. He should just get on and play. He has just 20 minutes left and 26 moves before the hour is added.

sixhobbits

Good advertising for ChessBase, I would never have looked there otherwise.

Nytik

Kamsky just made a mistake! Looks like the game will go to Topalov!!

EDIT: Sorry. For some reason I saw move 17. We arent even there yet. Ignore me. Smile

Nytik

Wait, I did see move 17. Its Bf5, right? It would appear Topalov has a -0.84 advantage... thats pretty decisive, especially with over an hour on his clock.

The official site is among the least functional that I have seen in the past few years, and they want to whine about copyright? FIDE should not allow such exclusions of sites that work for broadcast. It is in the interests of the chess public to watch live, and the sponsors put up such a paltry fund, they should be in no position to set terms.
