when i open position in PGN format in Arena chess with comments and moves (this how it looks in Arena PGN editor:

{ In a King + Pawn vs. King ending, king opposition is deci-
sive when the pawn is on the 6th rank. }
1. Ka6 Kb8 2. Kb6 Ka8 3. c7 (3. Kc7 Ka7 4. Kd8 Kb6 5. c7 Kc5 6. c8=Q+ Kd4) *

then moves and comments will be displayed when i open the game.

if i remove moves in an editor (in case i want display only comments, it's not going to work.

comments not going to be displayed.

if anybody knows how to display only comments without moves?

thanks

I don't think Arena can do what you want it to do; It requires *some* kind of move to display comments. (Even inserting a null move would work.) I'm struggling to understand why you would want to do this. If you don't have any moves, why would you need Arena? You could just put the comments in a regular text editor.

Having said that, I think the Scid vs. PC GUI will do what you're wanting to do.

You're welcome! (If you try out Scid vs. PC., you'll have to open the comment editor window to type in the comments.)

I have a different question . . . just started using Arena 3.5.1 to analyse games and noticed that there is no "visible" chess board indication of checkmate, i.e., the King square has no highlighting.  Is there a setting somewhere to activate this?

Arena doesn't have that exact feature. The closest you can come to that is to right-click your mouse cursor on the board, and in the context-sensitive menu, enable the option "Show Attacked Pieces". Then, when the king is checkmated, the king's square will be shown as attacked (red).

Not the answer I was hoping for, but that will work.

Thanx!
