The chat used to be very active but recently I've noticed that hardly anyone comments in the chat while watching games. Anyone know what's going on? Has everyone left and gone to another website?

Are you talking about during international  tournament broadcasts?

The chat seems pretty active on Twitch during the broadcasts.

I'm just talking about regular games on this website between titled or non-titled players. Like when Joey used to play the chat was wild. Now it just seems empty and almost no one chatting.

There are lots of streamers now. I don't know who Joey is but you should try some of the others on chess.tv

OP is right. I miss the days when I’d finish losing a game and some comment like “u weak n00b, get rekt” would pop up from someone about 1200. Good old days...

I assume there is too much strong players to watch...

I think Twitch chess streaming mostly replaced that... there's almost always a stream going on, so that's the new go-to for good chess apparently.

Streaming on Twitch or not, there used to be A LOT of people watching games and chatting back and forth with each other as we watched the games. Remember GM Joey? Everyone loved watching his games and he had a huge following. But now when I watch the top games there might be 90 people in the chat watching but no one is writing anything. It's really odd. I wonder if people are just watching on phones now and don't have easy access to a keyboard. Seems odd. Maybe people are indeed on Twitch now.
