Do you agree with Ian Nepo's Tweet about Pogchamps

The only thing dumber than saying pogchamps is "replacing" more serious chess entertainment are the people online who try to manufacture drama out of what he tweeted.

I lived long enough to see the aburd "chess video lessons".
Not only video doesn't add a thing to lessons in books and chess magazine articles, but it does lower the chances to memorize anything.
How one does hope to write down in the hardcore part of their memory anything lasting and deep about chess, out of such a thing like moving images, beats my understanding.
Somehow, it's just like one would hope becoming a good tennis player by just reading books.
Unlike video, things you read, advances at the exact speed of your reading, you can accelerate or slow down just as you understand what you read, or struggle to understand it.
Same: onboard analysis has the pieces moving at the exact pace you move them, which is the exact pace you need. In videos, one speaks and things move, with no regard for your capacity to integrate (and not just see or hear) what's going on.
My father owns a lot of chess books know new people won't be able to find some so I recommend them to just learn something else than a stream or vidoes just watch some youtube or if you are in school pls focus on that than chess well personaly I am not in school but one more is that I quiet watching streams because you know my father removed my blocksite so bye

I do because i don't like the people that played in it (i hate twitch), just my opinion though
agreed yes its pretty stupid and by the way I quit watching chess streams because of my blocksite is gone

i think he said something about how pogchamps was like staining the chess community or something along those lines, basically a typical elitist statement

i think he said something about how pogchamps was like staining the chess community or something along those lines, basically a typical elitist statement
Well yes he did also by the way I think people shouldn't watch streams it ruins your chess

yeah I agree
real chess isn't for twitch streams and show
but it's not like I think that pogchamps was a bad idea

Fixed that for you.

I think the main idea is "these people have a lot of fans watching them, and if they come on my stream I'll get more subscribers and make more money." Which is tough to argue with. Also some of those people will try chess and so the game grows. Which we all think is a good thing, right? Either way, I didn't watch it. I'm not a big fan of streams, and when I wanna learn I watch instructional videos, not chess streams.
