I got the position you gave simply by using the analysis board.

QuantumYankee - That doesn’t work because it has to be whites move so that he can win material with Qd5, hence the sequence I gave in #5. But yes, it’s not a false exercise.
There’s a very similar and more well known trap in the Philidor as well.

I found 121 games with the position. White's score is reasonably strong: 126-7-8. This game is interesting.

1.e4 e5 2.Nf3 Nf6 3.d4 exd4 4.Bc4 Nc6 5.Ng5 Ne5? (Black should play 5...Nh6)
That’s the sum of my knowledge on the Scotch Gambit. Paul Morphy played 5...Nh6 and won a nice miniature.
