True, I think CAPS works well for comparing masters because masters all have a high (and consistent) level of play. I'm just trying to extend the system to help people with a more variable skill level. I imagine most people look at CAPS to help them analyze and improve their own game. Your point about the need for an average score is an excellent idea. I think you could have CAPS, ADJCAPS, CAPSAVE, and ADJCAPAVE scores.

I think CAPS has a bias when playing players of different strengths. Essentially it's easier to find the right moves against weaker players and harder against stronger players. I recommend creating
ADJCAPS = CAPS * (CAPS/OPPONENTS CAPS SCORE). In my opinion this would correct for the bias among individual games and collapse to the original CAPS analysis among top level players. Nicely, I think this would give you an indication of how well you played regardless of your opponents skill.
