Getting Better

Hello Chess.com!

I am in desperate need of getting better at chess. I have been trying to delve as deeply as I can into the chess culture and all that this site has to offer but I don't feel like I'm moving up. I need a method to help my chess signifigantly. Tactics trainer? Blitz? Books? and I don't feel as if playing people is making me better because I keep losing...

PLEASE help! Thanks

Getting better at chess takes time.

You can start by reading through all the excellent Novice Nook columns by Dan Heisman available at

http://www.chesscafe.com/archives/archives.htm

Good luck!

Have you tried playing against anyone then reviewing your game with the person afterwards to get his opinions about how you should have played etc.? CJS Purdy suggests you study the games of the masters. Try recording your games and analyze it with someoene stronger thatn you. We learn from our mistakes anyway.
