Hi , I know many of you have already heard of that thing for many many times ! But basically is it about being talented human ? Or whatever some of you said that you need to have a silicon brain or this things...? You may even say that you need to work hard which looks great way in order to become GM ! but what should i study ? which author should i go for ? i use to have some books like "My System" and few other books ( i dont really use to read books ) i have 2 good coaches one of them is IM and other is FM . we use to work really hard on endgames and opening and i improved alot. But i want to work alone and by myself from now and i know that many players became GMs witout having coach . i have to get to 2700 and join the top dogs. and i would like to ask that if it is possible ?

If so how ?

Thanks Smile

Marco

Yes it's possible but : Hard work and study is the only answer - there is no armchair ride.  I am battling to acheive 900, so why am I giving you advice?  It's just the answers I get from acheiving friends, so I thought I'd have the hide to pass it onto you. I myself cannot do it (my concentration span is all too short) - so I try to make up for it by playing lots of games and no doubt playing is a great and necessary aid.  But the the simple and true answer is to get your nose into the info written by those who have done it.  And play lots of games Good luck

Just send me $20, and I will mail you a booklet with how to become GM.

Score 3 IM norms to get your IM title. Then score 3 GM norms to get your GM title. Then you are done.

you guys are soo mean i already wrote my name in forum and in profile and you guys get jealous of my rating shame on you

2 real life losers

Avatar of Scottrf

I didn't mention your rating, it was because you used someone elses profile picture.

LOL JK it's because of your rating while making silly 'how can I be a GM' threads that are normally made by people with 3 digit ratings.

What rating? I gave you the quickest way to obtain a GM title.

Talent is the ability to learn - GM Vladimir Kramnik

No, you can't get into super-GM club with hard work and dedication - this is bullsiht. There is some heavy talent involved.

You won't do it playing blitz (or asking your question of people who can't know the answer).

You should do everything you can, there is a slim chance you might succeed...if not then you can always make posts like this:

If becoming a GM was as easy as studying the game 24/7...if becoming a GM was as simple as working hard everyday since you are 5....if becoming a GM was so amazingly easy as hiring a personal GM coach to tutor you day and night....

Then....everyone....would....be...doing....it.

GMs are BORN not MADE. One cannot say, "I want to be a GM someday." It is either predestined for you or not. The only way to find out is to study hard day and night, work, work, work. And if you achieve GM status, it was meant to be all along.

It would be the supreme insult to all GMs to say, "Anyone can achieve what you have achieved. Just study the game, work hard, hire the best coaches, read the best books, study all the games, and you too will achieve greatness."

For every GM, there are tens of thousands of wannabes who ate, breathed, and dreamed of chess since they were 5 years old and never break 2400.

We all have differing abilities differing talents, some are cleverer than others.  One will shine as a teller in a bank whilst another likes to be handling tools. etc etc ad finitum.

Once you start blaming pre-destination or claiming "it was meant to be" you are leaning into the world of religeon.  But the fact is some of us are just not clever enough, its as simple as that.  So then if your thing is to become a GM - go for it - but if you don't make it then perhaps (like me) you are just lacking in determination or we are just not as clever as we think. But nothing can be blamed on pre-destination or fate.

However - what ever your designs are I wish you the very best
