I’ve noticed that even 1500 players know more openings than me. I just don’t know why I’m that much better than them 😀 Actually I know, since I outperform them in tactics and strategy. What I don’t know exactly is that, when they know every detail of openings how they don’t know the tactical and strategical motives arriving after that?!

Sort:
You know too much of openings. With black against e4 I play only sicilian, against d4 I play my own strange opening and against other openings I play with my feelings. With white I only play e4 which usually goes to either sicilian, or Spanish. Still I’m 2200+.

Yes, I do actually. I've gained a lot of opening knowledge over these 9 months I've been on here. Much more than I should.

dude I feel you, I probably knew too much about openings when I was around 1500 level (I knew names, variations, etc) but I could never get my normal sicilian dragon move order correct (Which was sad).
Since then I still know the exact same lines to the exact same depth
Guess we just understand the positions better than them
