Getting rid of En Passant

Unless you want a game of checkers, En Passant should be removed from chess. It is more horrible than a skewer.

It's like a professional foul in football.

So you want endgames to be a "no, you move first..." affair where pawns can't advance to the 5th rank lest an opponent's pawn leapfrogs past to become a passed pawn?

If you understand endgames in chess, then you would also have to understand why en passant is *required* to preserve the game if you allow pawns to move two squares on the initial move.

why was en passent introduced to stop 2 players facing each other behind opposing pawn walls too scared or unknowing about picking up a knight to hurl for a breach reduced instead to boring pointless piece shuffling behind the front line

don't know why i'm bothering posting on Pawnstogo's trolling theread, but en passant is perfectly logical it gives every pawn a fair chance at capturing the adjacent enemy pawns.

this isnt trolling, this is just plain annoying. at least with trolling you piss of people & get to laugh, this is just spamming unoriginal posts with no value.

So it's trolling in the sense that someone throws out some dummy bait and watches as people queue up to suck the dummy.

As opposed to .... someone starts a stupid thread and it gets trolled to bits by the fish. So some sort of buffer situation so that the crap doesnt get to float out onto the main forums has some merit then.

It would save the posters a lot of hassle as it would prevent their knee-jerk responses of complaining about threads that are nowhere near as good as the ones they drag on for hundreds of pages with rubbish.

I really don't see the connection between checkers and en passant.
