Would i have to deal with this in person?  Of course not.  Its the annonymity of the internet.  So consider who youre dealing with.

I wouldn't put it past some people to try and use this excuse.

I've often seen this discussion about if life skills translate to chess skills. I don't know about the rest of chess, but when it comes to making lame excuses for failing, this is one life skill that many translate quite readily to chess.

Yes, if you haven't put thousands of hours of work into it, then it's just a game like any other.

Sure, it sounds crazy, but everyone has a hobby. From my POV it's better than being able to quote 10 seasons worth of game of thrones, or breaking bad, or whatever it is people watch today Tongue Out

or breaking bad

Hey Hey now, this was actually a great show. Just finished watching it for the second time.

Otherwise I would agree.

leiph18

Its the annonymity of the internet.  Its where everyone can be an A**Hole.  To those that play OTB tournaments.

How many times do you see someone sit there and let the clock run out instead of resigning?

How many times do you hear someone make excuses abou the clock when they lose?

How many times do you hear someone cuss/insult someone out over a loss?

Being annonymous is a powerful thing.

PErsonaly, the only one of these things I've ever experienced is the occasional player who disconnects or lets the clock run down when they are losing. But it doesn't happen that often.

From your description, it sounds like I'm missing out on all the fun.Laughing

Thats my point.  It doesnt happen very often IN PERSON.  Thats all you need to know about sitting at a monitor, and being the e-thug.

You people all need to go on call of duty, have some 12 yr old call you a faggot for no reason, and gtf over it.

There is nothing to get over, and that is the same thing we have been talking about.  Hiding behind a monitor, or microphone, and acting like a fool.

Of course if I lose and my opponent says, good game, I will of course cry like a baby, and how dare they think for one minute they deserve a win against ME!

It costs nothing, and when they find people taking it seriously as you seem to do, they enjoy even more - endless circle...
