GMs going CRAZY in the end - Makes you scared?

I once read a passage in the book ' Bobby Fischer goes to war' where someone said. "Chess isn't something that drives people mad. Chess is something that keeps mad people sane."

I know a guy who said he used to be very good in chess, but he stopped playing because he thought it would drive him mad.

That's why I started this forum. lol :)

True! Two world champion chess players I know of, are stark raving mad;

Maybe its about the same concept as a crazy professor. You get mad by studiyng too hard.

an insane man doesnt know he is insane.  when you know youre crazy youre in with a shout.  Im in with a shout lol

please list all the gm's that are great and doing fine and probably make lots of money doing what they love.

I think the elite of any field is bound to turn out a higher percentage than average of insanity...

Great poets and writers, great artists, scientists, etc. all have a abnormal rates of turning insane.

EDIT: I just received fan mail for that link, which was unfortunate because THE ABOVE STORY WAS NOT WRITTEN BY ME.

I didn't realize I was giving that implication, I mean, the website specifically had the author's name in the url, but then again, on the internet, everybody's anonymous. So, yeah. I had to be sure not to take credit for somebody else's work.
