I would be interested in the same kind of thing.

I learned young, then read Idiots guide to chess, and learned some terminology, endings, openings, and general strategies.  Also have read Capablanca's "Final Lecture", and working through "The 62 best instructional chess games"

I really enjoy going through books of games, with analyzation, and I prefer the new (I think?) style of notation (IE: 1. b4 b5, 2. Kc3, Kf3)

I can recognize 3 or 4 openings.

I really think that your library would help. I think I got a book on chess at my library, so the chances are you will too.

ya trying the library is a great idea! you can get a library card for free and you dont need to pay money to sign out books! if you dont find one at the first library you go to then try a couple more. a place usually has 2 or 3 librabries

Most libraries utilize the inter-library system. If you want a book that isn't available at your own library, a system is in place through which your library will search for the book within other libraries throughout the country. If it's available, they will retrieve it for you at no charge. Just ask the librarian.

alright. thanks every one, and the only opening i know is moveing pawn 1 spot up from my king then using my queen and bishop for the next 3 moves to place a check mate. i havent read any of the books yet.

I have visitted many libraries near me, but due to my rural location, they have one, or no chess books (All of which I have read so far)

Should I get a book about general tactics? Openings? Endings? What is good to start on? I read capablanca's book and he says that endgames are what should be studied first, so Ive been practicing my checkmates with few pieces and working backwards, so far.
