Guidance needed

Except basics about moves, I do not know much about chess. I want to know in-depth about chess (not to play in tournaments but for self-satisfaction and to play occasioanlly with others).

please someone can suggest me good books or software. How to gradually learn things.

Thank you. I also went through Amazon and shortlisted some books for beginers.

I am now watching London chess games and trying to understand the analysis of the games by experts. 

Really feeling bad for not knowing about all this before. Better late than never.
