Yeah...

there's my source.

Did you know it all along?

And your lying

what? are you accusing the wall street journal, chess.com, and Magnus Carlson of lying?

Well they have no proof he cheated OTB, so....... yeah.

Have you seen Milky Chess's analysis on Youtube?

Ilampozhil25

extra. ordinary. statements. require. extra. ordinary. proof.

give me some explainer which ACTUALLY explained how chess.com came to their conclusion

also, when did everyone here start becoming pro-chess.com?

we WERE the ones who protested about, like, EVERY SINGLE new chess.com feature, right?

we WERE the ones who complained about chess.com's cheat detection system, right?

so why are we all just supporting these claims (which are extraordinary) without an inch of scrutiny, then?

Wait. But this is not new. The WSJ article is new, but the chess.com report it reviews says:

'in more than 100 online games, as recently as 2020"

I repeat: "online games" in "2020".

So this is not the new investigation we are looking for. This is the old case when chess.com banned Hans for cheating online years ago.

chess.com doesn't discuss it beyond this but you already knew that.

https://www.chess.com/article/view/chess-com-fair-play-and-cheat-detection

given previous bans of others unsure if it is really an extraordinary event.

What I don't understand is the switching of tabs. No one needs to switch tabs in a rapid or blitz game, if the software detects someone doing that, they should be immediately forfeited. Why aren't they?

I know it's a meme now but why did he say that? Why did he walk away? Why didn't he explain?

could just be a prepped mic drop statement

I think they are revealing this because he lied about it in the interview.

Yes, probably. This is an old analysis, and some journalists published articles about it thinking it is new.

However, a brand new chess.com analysis is coming up about recent OTB games of Hans, in the Sinquefield and other tournaments. Let's wait for that.

Chess.com's report was issued today, first to the press, now to everyone.

Chess.com is a joke. They’ll do whatever they need to to make Magnus happy.

There's a 74 page report detailing exactly what evidence there is that'll be coming out soon.

One of the big indicators though is that chess.com determined he consistently plays engine moves (and better than he typically plays) right after he switches to a different tab.  That's pretty damning.

These are the same cheat detection methods that detected him cheating the times he publicly admitted to, so it sure seems reliable.

Yes, I will certainly scrutinize the 74 page report when it's released.  It sounds like this report will also include Hans' private confession to Chess.com but we'll see.

Either way, really, the fact that the person who supposedly is experiencing the fastest rating climb in the history of chess also cheated online in more than 100 games.... come on.

Yes, but that was ONLINE and 2020. He was already punished for that, banned from chess.com.

The main question is whether he ever cheated OTB. To this, chess.com's answer is "maybe, but there is no proof for that". This includes no proof that he cheated against Magnus (or anyone else) on the Sinquefield Cup.

So everything we already knew he cheats online no one thought he only cheated twice and he mostly cheats in fast games to no one surprise bens take is 100% correct. So if I understand the article on WSJ right they banned him on a new account he hadn't cheated on for games eh played in 2020 because magnus threw a fit.  The " we reassessed his behavior form years ago because magnus got salty but he didn't tell us to directly we promise" this line is a joke to me.  Didn't cheat on the new account invited him to play and act all nice right before the cup but as soon as magnus cries they "change their mind" based on things from 2020? sus af.  We all knew hans cheated more than he said online I really hope that giant tome has more info than what was presented in the WSJ. Chess.com saying we may decide to revoke our second chance and publicly bury you as we see fit at any time because we have the power get shafted kid.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think they banned his new account.  They're just forbidding him from participating in tournaments with prize money because he cheated so much.  Seems fair.

cokezerochess22

I don't actually know I kind of just assumed that's not as bad I guess the timing is still sus af and begs the question why don't they ban the other top gm's why cant we see their stats? because chess.com and magnus didn't bait them into saying something so they could unload on them?  seriously?  "we invite you to this thing glad you don't cheat anymore." then "Oh our new golden boy magnus is salty so we have changed out mind. "  "oh did you mention how we just treated you unfairly and try and make us look bad for being shady? time to bury you kid"

moxnix22
I mean the timing isn’t ideal but the real question isn’t why did they ban him from a millie solar event it’s why did they let him play at all in the last two years with how rampant his cheating was. Sure they had bad timing but they are correcting the wrong now not committing it. The guy cheated over and over in money tournaments and when chess.com silently removed him he open his mouth and starting spewing lies it’s his own fault now.

It doesn't matter if he cheated online or OTB, in Magnus' statement he said that he will be refusing to continue playing with Niemann due to the fact that he does not wish to play chess with a person who displayed multiple (100+) times of dishonest when it comes to our beloved game.
