The OP is right. More work will be required on the endgame - the tablebases help a lot - but endgame patterns such as "king is cutoff"

are currently difficult to recognize while evaluating millions of moves a second.

I've said it many times before and I'll say it again: don't trust computer evaluation in chess. Computers are mechanical idiots that lack even the most basic common sense that even animals have.

Komodo sees this as +- at a depth of 18.  Maybe it's Houdini that's the problem.
