HAVANA 1966 CHESS OLYMPIAD VIDEOS
My father (Jose Luis Alvarez del Monte) was the Captain of Uruguay. I see him in a few pics you have posted (I have the original pics at home!). But, Che Guevara did not attend this tournament... My father originally received this chess set with a table
and chairs, unfortunately, I no longer have the table/chairs, but I still have the chess set and the board witch I am trying to get appraised. If some of you would have information on what it's worth, you can contact me at alvmaria@videotron.ca
Thank you!

Cuba. Badge of the XVII FIDE Chess Olympiad Havana 1966.
On these trips to Cuba, Fischer played with great personalities such as Fidel Castro or Osmany Cienfuegos himself, then Minister of Public Works.
This badge is the Accreditation of Osmany Cienfuegos that he used in the 1966 FIDE Havana Chess Olympiads.
Osmany Cienfuegos Gorriarán (February 4, 1931) is a Cuban architect, politician and military man. Officer of the Rebel Army under the command of Fidel Castro that overthrew the military dictatorship of Fulgencio Batista in 1959. He served as Vice President of the Council of Ministers of Cuba until 2009 and was minister of several departements
since the 1960s. Cienfuegos is also a member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba and deputy to the National Assembly of People’s Power. Older brother of the martyr Camilo Cienfuegos, who died in 1959.
Thanks Chuck, very kind of you.
