In my country -or at least my neighborhood-, there are some different names for chess pieces.

wqbq Menteri ( Minister, formal) -OR- Ster ( short for minister, informal)

wrbr Benteng ( Fort )

wnbn Kuda ( Horse )

wbbb Gajah ( Elephant, formal ) -OR- Peluncur ( Slider, informal )

So there it is. We have Minister, Fort, Horse, and Elephant. Both Pawn and King are still pawn and king, just in different language. Do you know any other names for chess pieces?

Kyobir

Castle (Rook), Horse (Knight), Camel (Bishop), Soldier (Pawn)

Tzariah (turret=rook), Parash (horseman=knight), Ratz (runner, like in medieval times to deliever important news = Bishop), and Hayal (soldier=pawn). Some people also call the pawn piyon and the rook toorah for whatever reason I never knew.
