I played in that event in South Africa in about 2003 or 2004, I finished 100th :)
You really dont need to quit playing here.
EDIT: It was in 2003, and I actually finished 91st WOOT!

Good luck to you, my friend! I wish I could do more OTB play but that's less feasible when one has a family and a practice to take care of. Have fun!
Thank you Doctor. I will need all the luck I can get. Youve been a challenging opponent and good friend.
Hello friends and acquaintances,
I am leaving chess.com .Nothing bad happened. A good thing happened. I am playing more OTB chess games these days. I am preparing for the Amatuer World Chess Championship in Greece. It is a presitgious event and is Open to anyone who qualifies, FIDE or USCF rated between 1900-2400 elo. I want to be there an see what I am made of.
This will require a lot of preperation and study and lots of time with my coach. So I will not have time to play here on chess.com. I have enjoyed playing and improving my game. Gourav (Warrior 2000), Miguel(DR_Chess), you have been challenging, fun and loyal friends. As for others who I was just begining to know and like, goodbye and I wish you well.
It's been great playing.
Best Wishes,
Yin-Yang.
At least before you left you informed me of something I did not previously know, and I appreciate that. Time to get my rating back over 1900....
What about the Opning Group that you just formed and all its 56 members ?
I see you were on 16 hours ago and yet there is nothing in the group forum about your leaveing YY.
I've never played any chess tournaments, but, here's my two cents.
I would take rooperi's advice (did I just write that?!?). You don't need to leave. Maybe you could utilize the coaching together with the benefits you have as a pm here.
Either way, good luck in the tournament. Hope you finish higher than 91st!
(sorry, roop, I couldn't help it!)
Well since yesterday, I have discovered alot of people do not want me to go. I have to go. Ill just end up spending time on here writing articles or new forums and helping people play which is great and fun, but I need to develop my technique. I have the time to train seriously. For all the guys that wish they could, it woud be an insult to them if I didnt at least go for it. You guys tell me how I can balance 5-6 hours of chess.com EVERYDAY with training that will require at least 4 hours a day in itself?
