Hello, can someone please review my account and let me know if I appear suspicious?

Lately, I've been trying out chess.com instead of my usual lichess. My son has been interested in playing, and he's been giving me a few pointers since he thinks he's the next Hikaru (even though his skills are still developing). I'm happy to see him take an interest in chess, unlike his mother.

I've noticed that I've been on a winning streak recently, which surprised me. Although my moves are not highly accurate, I'm happy with the results. However, I'm a bit concerned that others might think I'm cheating, which I'm not. I just wanted to get an outside opinion on whether my winning streak is normal or if there's anything I should be aware of. Thank you for your help in advance!

i'm confused, you think i'm not cheating right?

Your account is new so you are still winning and losing trying to find your real elo. The fact you are asking people if you are suspicious also makes you seem less suspicious since you are bringing attention to yourself about cheating.

Thank you so much for your response! It's really helpful to hear your insights on this matter. I'm glad to know that my winning streak might just be a result of my new account and trying to find my true level.

Regarding my concerns about appearing suspicious, I completely understand what you mean. I don't want others to think that I'm cheating in any way. I'll try my best to just enjoy the game with my son and not worry too much about what others might think.

Thank you again for your help and for understanding my situation. I really appreciate your kindness and advice!

Thank you again for your insights and help earlier! I have another question, if you don't mind.

I recently realized that my son played what were supposed to be my placement matches when he first started playing on my account. Now that I've been playing more on my own, I feel like I could do much better than my current Elo ranking. Is there a way to reset my account's Elo so that I can start fresh and accurately reflect my own abilities?

I really appreciate your assistance and thank you in advance for your response!

I've decided that I'd rather not reset my account's Elo. While it's true that my son played my placement matches, I've actually been enjoying the challenge of working my way up from my current ranking.

You should just close this account and open up a new one but set your starting rating to 1200?

MarioParty4

Nothing looks suspicious to me.

Yep, this looks like cheating... not your win streak but something else.

If I tell you what it is then it's easier for you to hide it so... yeah, that's all I'll give you.

As long as you play enough bad moves chess.com is too dumb to catch it though... so we'll see what they do (I reported you) but I already know you cheat so... yeah.

Itsameea

There is a of bad chess players on here. I tip my hat to them, gave me lots of ratings points. So, you may have gotten better but also highly likely you have been fortunate enough lately to hit a streak of bad players.

This is so stupid... no one decides whether to ban your account based on such things. It's a waste of energy to make up stories. The most likely thing that will happen is someone like me will notice you're cheating and report you.

The only reason to make a topic like this is to get clues on what makes you suspicious and then try to hide it better next time... so again, making up stories is a waste of energy.

lol, no. It's the opposite.

Cheaters ask questions like this all the time. It's extremely rare for innocent people to make this sort of topic.

Now... is it illogical for cheaters to do that since it brings them more attention? Yes, it's illogical. The smart ones probably don't do it.

mrOpenRuy

ive noticed that cheaters ask this question alot

quick edit: i realized somebody said that

incept77_is_using_engin

Some cheaters continue to cheat. Even when you report them...their accounts remain open and they continue to use an engine selectively, on and off during certain games.

Agree though, cheats usually ask these types of questions.

mrOpenRuy

but in the rare event that somebody just suddenly had a breakthrough, maybe its reasonable. idk

paper_llama

*Poof*

OP closed their account.

incept77_is_using_engin

A breakthrough can be reasonable, especially if someone has been studying the game. However, I know an account on here (I wont mention their name) that has scored an accuracy of above 90% in at least 10 of his/her last 20 blitz games.

If your accuracy reaches that of GM's, then clearly it becomes much more suspicious.

paper_llama

Don't worry OP, you can keep cheating that way, most people wont notice.
