Any know how?

Simple - finish the games you sign up for. At least resign them if you don't want to play anymore! It looks like you keep signing up for 1-day per move games and then not making any moves for a day.

ok when will it improve or get lower? I've been playing regular online games (not tourney) and been making moves ASAP, will that help?

The timeout ratio is the percentage of games you've played where you time out as opposed to playing to completion. So there's nothing you can do right now except play more games to completion. Making up an example, if you timed out on 100 of your last 200 games, you have a ratio of 100/200 or 50 percent. If you play another 200 games very soon without timing out, you would still have a ratio of 100/400 or 25%. Otherwise, I think it only looks at your last 90 days so you could also sit on your hands for 3 months :-)

Making each move quickly doesn;t change your timeout ratio, but it shows up in your average time per move - I think yours was around 4 hours.

okay man thanks for your help and quick responces.  I guess all i can do is to keep playing and finish games huh.  I went on vacation and haven't logged on in ages urg ;-(

Do I have to finish the games or can I just resign a bunch of games to lower my "timeout ration?"

rockpeter

That all depends on what ratio you now want to improve.  Your timeout ratio or your win/lose ratio :)

CHEXMATER

Yea i went on vacation, thanks for that grown up mature professional comment.

You knowingly signed up for a bunch of games and then went on vacation?  If you didn't have internet access while on vacation, you should have waited till you returned before starting any games.  Now you just have to wait for the 90 days to end, to lower your timeout percentage.

CHEXMATER

Understood Javan.  I pretty new with all this and didn't know the rules.  Never again trust me..

You also have "vacation time" as a member. You can set your status to "vacation" and that stops the clock on your online games to prevent that from happening again. But online games (and tourneys) can also be set up for "no vacation", so do not sign up for any of those if you plan to rely on vacation time. (That's just an option they give for the hard-core players who don't want to be delayed for sill reasons like your opponent having a life outside this chess site!)

thanks metastable for the help

Your time out ratio is measured within 90 days. Just don't timeout within this period and it will return to 0
