This is a concern I've never heard voiced, but I believe it's a legitimate one.  I've honestly never thought about this, and perhaps the "Highest Rating" should only consider the rating attained after 10 completed games.  However, there could be programming difficulties involved that I'm trivializing through my ignorance of them =P

That's a great attitude to have, and your goal is certainly attainable if you follow opening principles and take advantage of the many, many tactical mistakes made by 1100's on chess.com.  (There's a bit of rating inflation compared to USCF - I'm hoping to break 1200 OTB in the future).  Best of luck!

I recommend against rating goals.  If you just try to learn all you can about the game and play and have fun, you will progress naturally.

Obviously I am not playing just to surpass this level, but at the same time setting goals in any hobby is important for improvement. The way I will accomplish this is by "learning all I can about the game and playing and having fun".

In less then 2 weeks of playing chess i've definitely come to find much joy in this game and I'm not expecting any major immediate improvement. I realize improvement comes slowly
