the soviet chess machine....its no secret that the Soviet Union were the kings of chess, and had a state sponsored chess... Kasparov had access to many things that other chess players did not..

im not trying to diminish kasparov success....but i feel like many soviet players in the past, although talanted, had the privlege of sate sponsored soviet chess

which is why i believe when it comes to raw talent, Fischer was the best..... Garry was immensely talanted but he had other things as well to help his chess game, his dedication however is one major thing that he did well...

Doesn't matter Kasparov would have been a strong player regardless of wherever grew up or was born he had the gift for the game like Capablanca Carlsen and Morphy he would have been drawn it and noticed by a Chess Teacher.

Because there's such a big difference between "strong player" and world champion I think your statement is self defeating here.

You can probably make the same case for all the USSR players post WW2 up until the 1970's. There's no doubt that Kasparov is one of the all time greats & probably would have been regardless of his access to the Soviet Chess Machine. The question that comes to my mind is who else in the world outside USSR would have been as good if they had the same access.

Bobby Fischer virtually stood alone against the Russians, yeah there were others but he was the standout & he did it by himself & to me that is what makes Fischer unique as a Chess player. Fischer v Kasparov will be argued about for many years to come & sadly we will never know.

No.  I highly doubt it anyway.

Kasparov seems like more of a social type person.  In high school he would have been probably spending just as much time agitating for student government as chess, and then would have gone to college, gotten a good job, and led a "normal" life.

Bobby got as good in chess as he did because from an early age he totally eschewed anything except chess.

Bobby was obsessed with chess..... i dont think Kasparov had the same level of obsession, even though he did study alot too

Fischer had an amazing ability to find strong moves, in game 6 of the 1972 WCC he player a move as white that took the Soviet Chess machine 12 months to find a counter just to give black a draw. So was this ability due to the fact he wasn't subjected to imprinting at an early age by a hord of GM level coaches? That's another question we can only speculate about.
