Even if Yifan wasn't correct, her frustration and suspicion is understandable and I can't criticize her for it.
HOU YIFAN WASNT RIGHT, She should apologize.

Even if Yifan wasn't correct, her frustration and suspicion is understandable and I can't criticize her for it.

We should instead be talking about why she thought there was tampering and her actions surrounding the tampering.
If there in fact was tampering, was she correct to protest by throwing a game? I honestly don't know.

Throwing a game is never right, but it is the only way to get some attention.
She wasnt outspoken tho, so I dont even know why he threw the game, she talked like a little sissy. She should have slapped Tania in the face and discuss right there with the TDs. She just said he felt it was unfair and left.

I don't think she should have thrown the game, but I don't know what else she could have done.

She should have calm down and think twice before doing anything.
If she wants attention she can get it, there was no need to act like a kid.
She could have looked at the pairings and if something was irregular then just upload a video proving it and saying Gibraltar TDs are a piece of crap, that would make her famous and get her message out.

I am not even 20 and I know I have to think twice before saying something, I may not apply that on chess.com but that is a must in real life, specially in things like this.

Jeez, bronstein, I was hoping you had finally gotten rid of that picture.
Geeezzzzz, why do you hate teletubbies?

Sanju_1996d is spot on.
Some people just want to perceive the world either through rose-colored glasses or think it' all doom and gloom. BS does happen in this life, unfortunately.
The funny thing is how people require proof. You can show scientific proof, and someone will counter that with pseudoscientific quackery and claims by pseudoscientists.
This incident with Hou is murky. I want to believe it was all fair but the sneaking suspicion is still there.

No one had a problem when Nakamura lodged a 9-move draw at Millionaire Chess. Talk about tossing a game...he went home with $100,000.

Even if Yifan wasn't correct, her frustration and suspicion is understandable and I can't criticize her for it.
1. pairings are not random. You are paired against someone who has the same score as you (ok it can be off a little), you are usually paired with someone who had the opposite color as you last round, etc etc.........this is what people mean when they said they replicated the pairings. Also, the first round pairings are entirely based on seeding....so there cant really be a way to "manipulate" that....all in all, there is more evidence supporting that there was no manipulation.
2. This is the Gibraltar Open...the open with the biggest female prize.....is the Womens world champion supposed to be surprised when she finds out that the tournament actually has many females in it. I mean come on, shouldnt she have taken this as a sign that Gibraltar is doing a great job enticing females to play. If she wanted to "play against the big boys" she should try to be invited to more closed tournaments....oh wait, right...this doesnt really help with that now does it......

Also, Yifan apologized that same day.
"they" are obviously part of the cover-up.

Whether or not she was wrong about the pairings, she was correct that the tournament director should have stepped in and adjusted the pairings (as they have the authority and responsibility to do when the pairings come out strange).
So in order to avoid accusations that the TDs manipulated the pairings, they should've actually manipulated the pairings.

Do you even know the game and why he agreed on a 9-move draw?
Too hard to get a brain, think twice and then talk right?
another sexist anti-yifan or anti-china thread.
Because too much is never too much!
