How angry are you now with Caruana and Carlsen?
They keep playing the Sicilian, no variety. No King's Indian, no Ruy Lopez, no Dutch, etc....
Something needs to be done about this.
I am sure it will break Magnus' and Fabi's heart, once they will read this post tonight after their game...
It's not really even that boring. There were times they could've won games-especially Magnus on game 1.
I also hate staged fake action. This is all real with them trying their best on every move. It kinda should just be expected that these are the results most of the time.
It has not been that bad. The games have had chances for both sides. I wish they would do something like this: https://www.chess.com/forum/view/chess-openings/najdorf-players-beware
For having so many draws, I am not angry with them. I understand that in each game, they must play to get the best result; to win rather than draw, and to draw rather than lose. That draws are the result of this is not their fault personally.
As for the openings, that does not even tend to make me angry. But I am surprised. Why always 1. e4 instead of 1. d4? However, if anything, that shows the players are trying to have exciting tactical games instead of dull positional games which are likelier to become draws. So it is a sign they are making an effort to remedy the problem that is a source of disappointment.

right! they must play a very small number of ruy lopez like in the KK match ![]()
I also agree that you should smash your on computer, seems quite wise to me!
To me there has been just 2 or 3 "boring" games out of 10. Many of the draws like today were really fighting games. Like today Magnus was completely drained out of energy if you watched press conference. Fabiano seemingly looked ok. Magnus later said to NRK that he was afraid of losing today. I guess he has more at stake. Fabiano after all has nothing to lose, only to win. Magnus not only has his pride on the line but all of his businesses (although I think he is not thinking them directly atm).
@16 true. but to me his pride is over. how is he the best player if he can't win a single game???.... so your saying blitz should determine the best player? or maybe bullet 1:0 time control??? Naka Penguin Naro Firo New World Champions....
Some people just seem to believe that just because the point was split the players either prearranged it or were just not trying.
Draws are a natural part of the game, even more so at this level. Grow up.
Watch out for Fabi in the next two games. In all the events he's played in classical formats, Fabi has had phenomenal last two rounds, normally winning both games. He's been the best finisher in chess over the last year. He's due.
Carlsen, Magnus (2835)
Caruana, Fabiano (2832)
It is my suspicion that above 2700 you need a 50 point difference to get result games.
The only difference left is the white/black for the last two games.
