I play certain games were winning or loosing gains or looses much more points... I played a 1 min blitz and won 146 points, then lost a 5 min match and lost 20. I got a stalemate and lost 2?

1. How is the points distribution regulated?
2. Why are any points lost during a tie?

The points that change hands depend on the result of the game (win/draw/loss), on your rating, on your opponent's rating, and on how many games each of the players has played recently.

You gain more points by beating a higher-rated player (you were expected to lose that game), and gain fewer points by beating a lower-rated player (you were expected to win anyway). Drawing with a higher-rated player gains you half as many points as a win would get you.

You lose more points if you lose to a lower-rated player, and lose fewer points if you lose to a higher-rated player. Drawing with a lower-rated player loses you half as many points as a lost game would.

The number of points that change hands is increased if the players haven't played many games recently, because their ratings will be out-of-date and more emphasis is placed on the current result instead of on old (and possibly obsolete) results.
