How big is Magnus Carlsen's ego?

You can be arrogant or have a big ego if you have facts to back all that up. Especially in this world, where people just wait for you to make a mistake to be able to mock you...

for those that must obey authority that they do not respect in any degree who despise their jobs their destiny and speak jealously of them that are free...

SheridanJupp

You can have those if you have the facts to back all that up, yes. But it's not a feature that's a benefit to humanity.

Swedra

One should only have a big ego against others with a big ego, otherwise it is just kind of rude.

SheridanJupp

And really, I think Carlsen is a swell dude among his friends. Not a big ego but fun ;-)

Carlsen's  ego is nothing compared to other super stars , Muhammed Ali for example .

I don't think you can fairly compare the two. Different times, different people.

But people non the less ....

Carlsberg also have big egos...

Based on some of the replies, I thought I should clarify my perspective, so I edited the OP.

Unfortunately his ego doesn't seem to be very big to me.

Which is a pity, "egocentric" champions were always the most interesting ones (Fischer, Kasparov).

I think it's about 7 times the size of a Terry's chocolate orange.

big is Magnus Carlsen's ego ?

That would be a question that only a qualified Psychiatrist could answer.

Why ?

...Because in clinical psychiatry, the ego is considered to be the part of the mind that reacts to reality and has a sense of individuality or esteem.

Is Magnus Carlsen ego-centric, that is overly selfish or overly self-centred ?...I doubt it, but maybe a qualified Behaviourist would be in a better position to provide a definitive answer.

Does Magnus Carlsen suffer from Egomania, that is...morbid egotism ?

I very much doubt it.

Is Magnus Carlsen prone to egotism ?...which is characterized by too frequent use of "I" or "me".....or characterized by self-conceit and selfishness ?

Again, I doubt it.

I also think that some people may be confusing ego and arrogance.

I do not think Magnus Carlsen is arrogant....

....I haven't studied him, therefor I could be wrong.

Again, I doubt it.
