So I last played on my account on September 9th when 10/0 was still considered Blitz by chess.com, today on September 15th I played, and on my first game back I won and was confused when I saw my rating go from 768 to 955. after that I found out that 10/0 was changed from blitz to rapid I not sure why this would affect my rating so much as I only ever played 10/0. Now that I am thinking about it my blitz rating is still 768 but my rapid is now at the moment 1046 so I guess all 10/0 games played before the change are still consider blitz? why wouldn't they as in chess.com convert all 10/0 games from the past to rapid as well? so that ratings wouldn't get affected so drastically after a single game?

Since 10|0 is rapid and you didn't have many/any rapid games your rating deviation (RD) value is high. That means your rating will have bigger changes until you get more games played in the rapid pool and your RD drops.
