I'm not that high rated but based on my studies, learning strategies is really great but experience is best. Having great experience but lack of tactics and/or strats might cause you to not gain any material and even miss a win. If you lack tactics & strats, i prefer you play for the endgame. You'll have higher chances since of your experience on winning and securing a draw, etc. Having great tactics and strategy can be essential to winning almost instantly but lack of experience can cause you to have a bad position or even blunder even in slow games. If you lack experiece, i prefer trying to stick to the middle game and/or have a closed position. You'll have higher chances since you can see more posibilities than your opponent. Combining those two is good!
how did you get good at chess
Born this way.
for any good players how did you start playing and how were you originally? How long did it take you to get good? In terms of learning, is experience or learning strategy/studying more important?
