How do I become a national master?

Finally shuttlechess, did you succeed to be a national laster after 4 years? I'm 2000 elo and target to be 2200 elo in 2 years with hard working and coaching with an IM. I do not know if it is feasible

@chessmagic5: National Master is a USCF title not a FIDE title, so the FIDE website would likely not tell you the National Master requirements. They would also not require you to beat a Grandmater, because Grandmasters are far stronger than National Masters. I believe the main requirement to becoming a National Master is to have a USCF rating of over 2200.

His rating on this site is 1800 or thereabouts, so I highly doubt it!

In Canada you need to hold a (national) rating of 2200 or better for 25 consecutive games. Once you've won the title you cannot lose it.

... In my case, it is becoming apparent that I also cannot attain it :P.

Congratulations on being wrong!

Interesting read. In the ECF you have to be above 2200 for two years compared USCF just reaching 2200. The ECF NM title seems much harder to obtain. I regularly swing over 100 points on this site but maybe OTB ratings don't change so much?
