I don't know if this reason applies to you but a common mistake is losing pawns (or losing full pieces) since almost 90% of the time, even a 1 material disadvantage will make you lose at the end of the day. If you are good at tactics, that will help you in the long run so its best to put it to use by being as consistent as possible as most players under 1200 dont really do this

I'm rated 1040 in rapid chess. I'm really good at calculation and tactics, in those puzzles about checking your elo i usually get a score around 1800. I know an opening or two, that are pretty solid. I'm also familiar with the concept of forcing moves, canditate move etc. and I just don't know, what am i lacking, that holds me back. Maybe I just have to use my tactic skills in real games, but i can't calculate every move in every position in every game, right? Or maybe it's just a specific skill I don't have, like attacking or converting advantage? I just don't know. I'll be gratefull for every response, that is not something like "just play more and better".
