How do I improve?

I feel like I have been playing a lot of chess, and improving but I want to get even better, how?

Pretty much the same as learning anything: 1) Practice. 2) Focus your practice where it'll be most effective. 3) Follow generic training programs to guide you on how to focus your practice. 4) Get a coach to create a specific training program to target your personal weaknesses. 5) Realise that you want to play for fun instead of as trying to build a career. 6) Go back to playing rather than learning.
Do puzzles, analyze your games thoroughly, play games with longer time controls (and use that time!). If you'd like, there are also a lot of instructive videos and books that can help out a ton. If you have money, a coach could accelerate your growth (though I myself would wait until getting to club-level play before doing such).
